Pre-trip and post-trip inspections

Label a condition report as the check done before a vehicle goes out or the one done when it comes back, and filter your lists by either.

Can't find this in your app? Your business owner can switch the Condition Report module off, which hides it for everyone — there's no message when that happens. An owner or admin can turn it back on in Settings → Business settings → Active Modules.

Plenty of fleets check a vehicle before it leaves and again when it returns. Both checks produce a condition report, and without a label the two are indistinguishable afterwards — which matters when you are working out whether damage happened on the job or was already there.

Tagging a report as pre-trip or post-trip is how you tell them apart later.

Tag a report

The Inspection picker sits on the condition report form, when you add one and when you edit one, on the phone and on the web. Choose:

  1. Pre-trip — the check before the vehicle goes out.

  2. Post-trip — the check when it comes back.

  3. Other — anything that is neither, such as a defect spotted mid-week.

The field is optional. Leave it alone and the report is recorded exactly as it always was, with no label.

Where the label shows

Once set, the inspection reads in front of the component wherever the report is listed: the vehicle's own Condition list, the fleet-wide Condition Reports overview, and the open condition reports card on Home. A row reads as the inspection, then the component, then the severity.

Filter by inspection

Both the vehicle list and the fleet-wide overview carry an inspection filter, so you can pull up every post-trip check and nothing else. Filtering is done by the server, so it covers every report rather than only the ones already loaded on screen.

Reports made before this field existed carry no inspection and show no label. They are not wrong and they do not need fixing — a filtered list simply will not include them. If an old report matters, edit it and set the inspection.
