Add your first vehicle

Adding a vehicle takes about a minute, and you don't type most of it. Enter the plate and the state, and Axlerun looks the vehicle up against the national registry (NEVDIS) and fills in the make, model, year and registration details for you. You check them, fix anything that looks wrong, and save.

Add the vehicle

1. Open the Vehicles tab and tap the + button in the top right.

2. Pick the state the vehicle is registered in, type the plate, and tap Lookup Plate.

3. Check what comes back. Make, model, year and registration expiry are filled in from the registry — edit anything that's out of date, and add anything blank.

4. Tap Save Vehicle.

Fill in the compliance dates

Once the vehicle is saved, Axlerun offers a short setup run: registration, CTP, insurance, next service and current odometer. You can skip any step and come back later.

It's worth doing at least the dates. They're what the alerts are built on — a vehicle with no rego expiry on file can't warn you before it lapses, and that warning is most of why the app is useful.

1. Registration — expiry date, and the state it's registered in.

2. CTP — insurer and expiry. In some states this is bundled with rego; if so, use the same date.

3. Insurance — policy number, insurer and renewal date.

4. Service — when it was last serviced, or when it's next due.

5. Odometer — today's reading. This is the baseline every future reading and trip distance is measured against, so it's worth walking out to the vehicle for.

If you don't see the + button

On the free Drive plan you can add three vehicles. At the cap, the + button shows an upgrade prompt instead of the form. Nothing is lost — existing vehicles and their records stay exactly as they are.
