How automatic trip recording works
Once it's set up, Axlerun logs every drive on its own — starting when you move and stopping when you park. Here's what makes that work.

Turbo— including the free planCan't find this in your app? Your business owner can switch the Logbook module off, which hides it for everyone — there's no message when that happens. An owner or admin can turn it back on in Settings → Business settings → Active Modules.
Automatic recording is the whole point of the logbook: you drive, and the trip is there afterwards, ready to classify. It runs in the background using the phone's motion sensor and GPS, and it's careful with the battery — GPS only runs while the vehicle is actually moving.
What it needs to run
Three things have to be in place, and the tracking status tells you which is missing:
Location set to Always — background location, not just "while using the app".
Motion access — this is what notices driving has started and stopped.
A vehicle allocated to the driver — trips need a vehicle to record against.
When all three are set, the status reads Tracking on. You'll also see Outside logging hours (a schedule is pausing it), Action needed (something above is missing), or Tracking off.
On Android, automatic logging relies on a notification to keep running in the background. If notifications are off, Android stops logging the moment you swipe Axlerun away — so leave notifications on, and set the battery to unrestricted.
Automatic recording is free on every plan, including Drive. The ATO-ready export is part of Cruise, along with the auto-classify rules that keep those trips export-ready as they close. It does need a real phone, though: it can't run in a simulator. Getting the permissions on is the next article.
